I watched the Director's Cut, so no voice-over. In a way, voice-over is perfect for noir, but it has to be done right.

If I remember correctly the voice-over in the original was recorded late in the project to explain stuff someone with money thought the audience otherwise wouldn't understand. It is said that when he was recording Harrison Ford did the worst he could, in the hope they would realize that it sucked and throw it away. Instead they just happily inserted it into the film.

About Blade Runner: did you watch Director's Cut? The original version has somewhat been crippled with a voice-over and a crappy ending, although even the director's cut has an intro text, if I remember correctly. In any case - the ambiance in Blade Runner is just perfect.

I really, really love It's All About Love! Among these, I definitely think it's the best, followed by The Lodger.
