I’m Jonas Ferry, born 1979 and living in Gothenburg, Sweden, with my wife Helena. I’m at the end of a master of science in information technology with a specialty in socware design. ‘Soc’ stands for System-on-chip, and the idea is to design complete systems on a transistor level that you can put on a micro chip. Oh well. I write mainly about film and roleplaying games, and I’d like to discuss both.

About film

When watching film I try to mix classics with newer things, and I like to create mini themes for myself like ‘See all Hellraiser/Godfather/Star Wars films’ or ‘See the old and the new Psycho in the same evening’. Luckily Helena is into watching film as much as I am, and it’s not difficult for us to convince each other to watch something.

About roleplaying games

My roleplaying career started with the classic Swedish fantasy game ‘Drakar och Demoner’, and continued with other classics like Kult, Mutant, Mutant Chronicles, and later Vampire and Mage. A couple of years ago I found the indie scene and The Forge, and started pitching games to my group. I’ve also incorporated ideas from experimental games into more traditional games, and have at least learned a lot about my likes and dislikes. The games I’ve designed are usually centred on an idea that I want to explore, and so far I’ve favoured rules and form over setting.
